Qualifications

  • Previous experience of working with animals is highly desirable.
  • A qualification in animal care is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside veterinary surgeons and nurses to provide care.
  • Record and update patient information.
  • Clean and prepare patient accommodation.
  • Exercise, feed, and groom patients.
  • Handle and restrain patients for treatment.
  • Assist with preparing patients for procedures.
  • Administer medications and injections.
  • Prepare theatre by cleaning and sterilizing instruments.

Job Title: Patient Care Assistant (Veterinary)

Salary: £ 25,646.40 per annum

Location: Peak Vets, Sheffield

Job Type: Full time, Fixed term contract

Hours: 40 hours a week - Shift work including some evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Opening hours are 8:00-21:00 Monday-Friday, 8:30-16:00 Saturday and 9:00-13:00 Sunday.

This is a demanding role and requires dedication, proactivity, flexibility, a strong work ethic and a strong belief in delivering the highest standard of patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Work alongside veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses to provide vital care to patients
  • Record and update information on patient records
  • Clean, prepare and maintain patient accommodation
  • Exercise, feed, and groom patients
  • Handle and restrain patients for treatment
  • Assist with preparing patients for procedures - clipping - removing food and water where required
  • Administer topical and oral medication and administer subcutaneous injections
  • Prepare theatre - cleaning and damp dusting - cleaning, packaging, and sterilising instruments - preparing materials, instruments, and equipment
Required Experience
  • Previous experience of working with animals (Highly Desirable)
  • Qualification in animal care (Desirable)

We are a RCVS accredited, small animal veterinary hospital based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, on the doorstep of the magnificent Peak District.

We aim to provide high quality but affordable veterinary care from our team of experienced vets, several of whom have or are studying for RCVS certificates in surgery, medicine, ophthalmology, dermatology, and imaging.
