Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact for patients and medical staff.
  • Maintain a high standard of patient care throughout their journey.
  • Efficiently process prescription requests and administrative tasks.

Job description

To provide a point of contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors, and other medical staff.

Ensure each patient/visitor to the practice receives a high level of customer care/service.

Maintain a high standard of the patient journey.

Monitor the flow of patients into consulting and treatment rooms.

Support clinical staff as needed, ensuring communication with patients is maintained.

Respond to queries and requests for assistance from patients and visitors, including helping patients complete relevant NHS forms.

Complete administrative tasks efficiently and effectively.

Process prescription requests within one working day where possible.

Follow practice procedures for opening and closing all sites.

Be familiar with all appointment systems, including variations.

Book appointments and recalls.

Provide excellent service when answering phones and signposting patients appropriately.

Answer phones promptly and handle calls effectively.

Follow practice guidance for patient identification and greeting.

Manage telephone and home visit requests according to practice procedures, ensuring patient contact information is current.

Participate in 121 meetings to review call quality and identify improvements.
