Job description

Job Opportunity: Patient Admin Officer

We are expanding our Ophthalmic Department at York Teaching Hospital and are seeking a dedicated Patient Admin Officer to join our busy Administration Team.

About The Role

You will provide reliable administrative and clerical support to both internal and external stakeholders. This includes daily communication with colleagues across various professions, both clinical and non-clinical.

About You

The ideal candidate is highly motivated, well-organized, patient-focused, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritize workload are essential.

Working Hours

Full-time and part-time hours (minimum 30 hours) are available, with shifts across any 5 days in 7, including weekends. Job sharing options are considered. Please note this role is cross-site between York Hospital and York Community Stadium and does not meet sponsorship eligibility.

Interview Details

Interviews will be conducted in person at one of our Trust sites; remote interviews are not available.

Key Duties
  • Managing a busy reception desk
  • Administering referrals via the electronic booking system 'E-Referrals'
  • Monitoring electronic worklists and ensuring timely action
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Responding to patient queries face-to-face and verbally
  • Scheduling patient appointments in accordance with consultant requests
  • Making follow-up appointments and managing worklists
  • Checking patients in and out of clinics
