Job description

About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, enthusiastic individual to join the Pathways team. Pathways is one of 29 partnerships working to deliver the Office for Students (OFS) current collaborative widening participation scheme – Uni Connect.

Working as a key member of the Pathways team (comprising staff based across Loughborough University, University of Leicester, De Montfort University, and Leicester College), this role involves working with learners across local schools to offer impartial Information, Advice, and Guidance. The aim is to support learners where there is low progression into higher education, exploring their potential and supporting them in considering all options. Using the facilities, knowledge, and experience of our partner organizations, the post holder will help shape and deliver bespoke outreach workshops, events, and initiatives to raise awareness of routes into and opportunities offered by higher education.

Day-to-day, you will work with students aged 11+ in school and community settings to understand their knowledge of education and training opportunities. You will support them in overcoming barriers, real or perceived, to pursuing higher education and entering the world of work.

Based at the University of Leicester, the role will work closely with colleagues across the Future Students Office, specifically with the wider Schools and Colleges Outreach Team. You will collaborate with colleagues involved in the Pathways project across organizations as part of a supportive, enthusiastic team.

About You

This role requires someone who enjoys working with learners aged 11+ and believes that successful progression in education—whether to university, higher or degree apprenticeships, or other higher education pathways—can lead to great opportunities.

You should be enthusiastic, team-minded, and able to maintain energy and positivity despite challenges or slow progress. An interest in young people, equality, education, and community is essential. You will have access to training and personal development opportunities to support your growth in this role.
