Please see details of an exciting position in London for a Permanent Pathology Health & Safety Manager.

About the Company

We are currently recruiting for a Medical Laboratories Risk and Health & Safety Manager to join a growing team. We have over 35 years of experience in providing pathology services, including acute care in hospitals, IVF clinics, insurance work, healthcare screening, and GP services. Our laboratories cover all disciplines in pathology, equipped with the best analytical instrumentation.

About the Role

The role holder will advocate and sponsor risk control and prevention strategies that integrate risk management practices into daily management.

Responsibilities

  • Deputise for the Head of Governance as required.
  • Provide direction to ensure a patient-focused quality governance agenda, reported via reports and presentations to the Senior Management Team.
  • Ensure quality and risk management are embedded throughout the laboratory by providing support, advice, and guidance on all aspects of quality governance.
  • Support the management of all complaints effectively and transparently, in line with legislation, ensuring learning from complaints is disseminated.
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, developing quality assurance and monitoring systems.
  • Support strategic leadership and direction to the governance team.
  • Ensure resources and expertise are available for health and safety advice at the operational level.
  • Lead root cause analysis for serious incidents.
  • Develop mechanisms for learning from incidents to promote a patient-focused learning culture.
  • Advise the Senior Leadership Team promptly of high-risk incidents or matters affecting safety or reputation.
  • Keep risk registers updated and use them to drive strategy implementation.
  • Lead on the development and assessment of CQC standards, working with relevant teams to ensure understanding and ownership.
  • Deliver training and facilitate processes, establishing performance monitoring and assurance.
  • Ensure compliance schemes are embedded and monitored within laboratories.
  • Review and advise on national guidance and legislation, supporting service development and delivery.
  • Support the implementation of UK Business Continuity and Health, Safety & Wellbeing policies.

Required Skills

  • Experience in risk management and laboratory health and safety.
  • Strong understanding of ISO15190 and ISO22367.
  • Awareness of ISO15189.

Pay range and compensation package

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience, up to £70k.
