The post holder will assist the Pathology IT department in providing advice across all specialties in Pathology.
Manage and develop existing and future electronic communications between diagnostic analytical equipment, their controller devices/servers (Diagnostic Equipment Systems (DES)) and the clinical systems they serve. E.g. Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Point of Care Testing (POCT) systems and Blood Tracking Systems. Manage and maintain the Quality Management Systems around Pathology IT to ensure safe, effective, professional practice in the department that meets regulatory and accreditation compliance for Laboratories, Transfusable blood and Point of Care Testing devices. This includes, as a minimum, ISO 15189 Clinical Laboratory Accreditation Standards and Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) Blood Safety and Quality Regulations 2005. Manage and develop the electronic "Lab to Lab" systems that facilitate referrals of patient's samples for specialist testing both within and outside of the Sussex Pathology Network.
Support with the IT administration of analytical platforms that underpin Pathology Service delivery. Your part in the maintenance, change management and evaluation of new analytical platforms is a key requirement.This role also involves advising and working with the Pathology IT Lead(s) to develop operational and strategic solutions for clinical analytical technologies. This is to ensure operational continuity at all times, manage cost, manage change and implement the most effective strategies for adopting new technology.This role also involves advising and working with the Pathology IT Lead and the Pathology Quality Manager to develop the Pathology IT Quality systems that are in line with, and supportive of, wider departmental objectives.The appropriate operation of IT change control procedures, management of that change and performance of IT audit is a key responsibility of this role.T
