Opportunity for Full or Part-Time
We’re looking for someone to take responsibility of handling our European Validation cases. You’ll be working under the supervision of our Patent Validation Co-ordinator in close contact with our Records Department who are an administrative team that provides vital legal support services within our organisation. You’ll be joining a patent and trade mark attorney firm that works to protect some of the world’s leading brands and newest innovations.
Having excellent administration skills goes without saying, but you’ll also need to be the kind of person who enjoys a challenge and likes using your initiative.
What you’ll be doing
Your tasks will typically involve:
- Setting up new files
- Ensuring accurate case handover to the validation team
- Report to and seek instructions from clients based across the world, via email
- Handle and report official correspondence that comes in from the European Patent office, including extracting key information
- Maintain the team diary system to ensure all official deadlines are met
- Efficient handling of case load
- Communicating with overseas patent attorney firms to ensure that all formalities are in order to meet the validation deadline
- Understanding the renewal process of a European Patent and advising clients accordingly
- Preparing invoices and sending to clients
- Adapting procedures and documents to meet the specific needs of our clients
You’ll be based in our Bath office, in the city centre, and that’s where you’ll do most of your training. Once your introductory training is complete, you will be able to work from home up to three days per week (if full time).
Who we’re looking for
As well as being someone who thrives as part of a team, you’ll be resourceful enough to work independently when needed. Combined with strong problem solving and IT skills, your attention to detail will be excellent.
Key qualities include, but are not limited to:
- Working under your own initiative
- Having keen attention to detail
- Maintaining a diary system (software provided)
- Being able to prioritise under pressure
- Working efficiently and handling a large case load
In terms of academic background, we’re looking for:
- At least five GCSEs at grades A* to C (or the equivalent), including English and Maths;
- A minimum of two A Levels or the equivalent;
- Perhaps a degree – although it’s not essential.
Finally, we’d like to hear about your administration experience, ideally from working in a similar role.
