Job summary

Ringwood School is seeking a devoted Pastoral Support Worker to empower students with tailored interventions around behaviour, attendance and social interactions. You will collaborate with teachers, build strong links with families and external agencies, and act as a keyworker for assigned students.

The role requires safeguarding knowledge, empathy, and the ability to work in a team within a busy secondary school environment. Prior ELSA qualification and experience with SEND are advantageous.

Qualifications

  • ELSA qualification and experience supporting students with emotional needs.
  • Experience in a secondary school setting is preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and external agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored advice and structured interventions to empower students in behaviour and attendance.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to share effective strategies for supporting students.
  • Build strong connections with parents, staff, and external agencies for holistic support.
  • Act as a dedicated keyworker, track progress, attend meetings, and report concerns to SENCo and Head of Year.
  • Maintain confidentiality and safeguarding practices; promote a positive attitude toward learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored advice and structured interventions to empower students to make positive choices regarding their behaviour, attendance, and social interactions (with full support for structuring and resourcing these interventions).
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and colleagues to share effective strategies for supporting students.
  • Build strong connections with parents, staff, and external agencies to ensure holistic support for every student.
  • Strengthen the school-family partnership to enhance educational opportunities and foster a positive attitude toward learning.
  • Act as a dedicated keyworker for assigned students, tracking their progress, attending meetings, and reporting concerns to the SENCo and Head of Year.
  • Uphold confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of all students., At Ringwood School, students are encouraged with a rich, diverse and personalised curriculum, one which promotes challenge, interests and the spirit of enquiry. Desired Additional Qualifications
  • ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) qualification.
  • Previous experience working in a secondary school setting.
  • Experience supporting children/young people with special educational needs.
Remuneration and Contract
  • FTE: £27,936 p.a. to £30,222 p.a. (Actual £23,960 p.a. - £25,921 p.a.)
  • Term time only, plus inset days - 37 hours per week, Permanent -- Monday - Thursday 8am-4pm / Friday 8am-3.30pm
