Pastoral Support Officer

Location: Wollaston, Northamptonshire
Start Date: September 2025
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM 4:00 PM
Contract Type: Full-time, Term Time Only

Are you passionate about student wellbeing and supporting young people to thrive in school life? We are seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Officer to join our secondary school team in Wollaston this September.

About the Role:

As a Pastoral Support Officer, you will work closely with up to 12 students across the secondary age range, providing targeted emotional and social support. You will play a vital role in promoting positive behaviour, attendance, and student engagement, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group pastoral support to identified students
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, the safeguarding team, and external agencies
  • Monitor student wellbeing, attendance, and behaviour, and implement support strategies
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions and progress
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students


Person Specification:

  • Proven experience or strong knowledge of pastoral support in a school setting
  • Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage and support students with a range of emotional and behavioural needs
  • A proactive, resilient, and compassionate approach
  • Understanding of safeguarding practices and child protection (training will be provided if needed)
