Job summary

The John Smeaton Academy is seeking an outstanding Pastoral Support Officer to join our pastoral team, working with the Head of Year and Assistant Principal to support year-group leadership and daily management. The role focuses on high-quality pastoral care, safeguarding, and targeted interventions to help every student achieve their potential.

You will build positive relationships with students, families and external agencies, contributing to a safe, engaging school environment and supporting

Qualifications

• GCSEs English and Maths required at grade 5/C+ or above.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
• Experience of supporting students to improve behaviour, engagement and achievement.
• Excellent communication and ability to build relationships with students, families and external agencies.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day management of a year group and contribute to year-leader processes.
• Provide high-quality pastoral care and targeted interventions.
• Support safeguarding and child protection processes.
• Liaise with students, families and external agencies to promote safety and progress.
