Job description

The Governors are seeking to appoint an outstanding, passionate, experienced, and committed forward-thinking Pastoral Manager & Deputy DSL to join our school. The ideal candidate will possess excellent skills and the ability to inspire, motivate, and communicate outstanding practice within our school team.

We are looking for an excellent Pastoral Manager & Deputy DSL who:

  • Supports the leadership, management, development, and monitoring of the school's pastoral care functions.
  • Identifies, monitors, and evaluates persistent absences of students' attendance and reports on these issues.
  • Tracks, sets targets, and mentors/supervises students as needed.
  • Liaises regularly with parents and carers.
  • Plays an active role in developing and implementing safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Works with senior management to identify vulnerable students or those needing specific support.
  • Ensures referral procedures are current and correctly implemented to safeguard pupils.
  • Provides counselling or mentoring where appropriate or acts as a link to relevant agencies.
  • Maintains and develops Early Help assessments, and participates in team around the family and school meetings.
  • Assists with welfare staff cover and break-time supervision as necessary.
  • Plans and delivers workshops with parents and organizes extracurricular activities.
  • Coordinates intervention strategies for vulnerable pupils and collaborates with multi-agency support where appropriate.
  • Maintains robust reporting systems for monitoring and evaluating pastoral care, ensuring child protection documentation is up-to-date and securely stored.
  • Collaborates with the pastoral teams within the Trust, sharing relevant information with staff.
  • Runs a daily lunchtime nurture club.
  • Contributes to policy development and ensures effective implementation.
  • Develops links with partner schools, the community, and outside agencies.
  • Contributes to CIN and CP meetings and completes referrals with external agencies.
