Job summary

Beechcroft is seeking a Pastoral Learning Assistant to join our dedicated team. The role centers on pastoral support and reinforcing learning readiness for pupils from Reception to Year 6, in a calm, structured environment.

You will work with teachers, families and external professionals to promote emotional wellbeing, resilience and inclusion, adapting approaches to meet individual needs and maintaining detailed records of support provided.

Qualifications

• Experience with primary aged children in educational or community settings.
• Understanding of social, emotional and behavioural development in pupils.
• Experience supporting children with SEMH or other vulnerabilities is helpful.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with pupils, families and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individual and small group pastoral interventions to support emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour.
• Provide a safe, nurturing space for pupils experiencing difficulties and help them regulate emotions.
• Support pupils with SEND, SEMH needs, attendance barriers and participation.
• Work with pupils through changes, transitions and reintegration into classes.
• Support during break times and unstructured periods to promote inclusion.
• Contribute to planning, delivery, monitoring and review of support plans.
• Collaborate with staff, families and external agencies for coordinated wellbeing support.
• Help create a positive whole-school pastoral and learning environment.
