Pastoral Leader – Secondary School

We are seeking to appoint a committed, compassionate and highly motivatedPastoral Leaderto join a dedicated staff team at a vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting the wellbeing and personal development of young people.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the pastoral provision for a designated year group, ensuring students are well-supported in all aspects of their personal development. You will work closely with senior leaders, Heads of Year, teaching staff and external agencies to remove barriers to learning and promote a positive school experience for all students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide pastoral leadership for a specific year group, promoting high standards of behaviour, attendance and engagement

  • Offer guidance and support to students experiencing social, emotional or behavioural challenges

  • Work closely with families, staff and external professionals to implement appropriate interventions

  • Monitor and act on safeguarding concerns in line with school policy

  • Contribute to the development of a positive, respectful and inclusive school culture

  • Promote student wellbeing and encourage resilience, confidence and self-esteem

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience of working with young people in a pastoral, educational or youth work setting

  • Be a strong communicator with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues

  • Be calm, empathetic and resilient under pressure

  • Understand the importance of safeguarding and child protection procedures

  • Be highly organised and able to prioritise effectively in a busy school environment

  • Be committed to the values of inclusion, diversity and opportunity for all
