Job summary

Alder Community High School is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Leader to join our inclusive team. This permanent, full-time role focuses on promoting student wellbeing, improving behaviour and attendance, and supporting students and families to overcome barriers to learning.

You will work in a collaborative, student-centred environment with strong links to staff and external agencies to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed. The role includes CPD and a commitment to our values.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, young people, or families is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of students.

Responsibilities

  • Lead pastoral care across the school to support student wellbeing and attendance.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, staff and external agencies.
  • Support students to overcome barriers to learning and develop personal skills.

Job description

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: Grade G SCP 23 £30,493 - SCP 28 £34,671 (Actual salary, TTO + 5 days)

Hours Per Week: 36 hours

Base Location: Alder Community High School

The successful candidate will need to have excellent communication skills, along with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and young people. This is a permanent appointment which is subject to a 6-month probationary period. The normal hours of work are 36 hours per week. The position is term time only (including INSET days) plus 5 additional days. The additional days will be worked flexibly to cover events outside of the normal school day or during the school holidays. Additional holidays cannot be taken during term time.
