Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Lead for an Alternative Provision in Mid Essex. You will lead pastoral support across the provision, focusing on attendance, wellbeing and personal development for students facing barriers to education.

You will work with staff, families and external agencies to develop personalised support plans, promote restorative approaches, and safeguard vulnerable learners while maintaining a calm, Trauma-informed environment across the setting.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEMH, behavioural or additional needs.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Restorative and trauma-informed approach.
• Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.
• Passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.
• Ability to work with families, schools and multi-agency partners.
• Strong safeguarding and child protection awareness.

Responsibilities

• Lead the provision's pastoral support and intervention programmes.
• Manage student wellbeing, behaviour and attendance initiatives.
• Build positive relationships with students, families and carers.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external agencies to support vulnerable learners.
• Develop and implement personalised support plans.
• Provide safeguarding support as part of the wider safeguarding team.
• Promote positive behaviour, resilience and emotional wellbeing.
• Monitor and evaluate pastoral interventions to ensure positive outcomes.
