Job summary

London Fire Solutions is seeking an experienced Passive Fire Estimator to price fire door, fire stopping and maintenance projects across Kent and the South East. You will collaborate with the Commercial Manager, operations and bid teams, visiting sites as required to build competitive, well-documented pricing.

You should bring proven estimating experience in passive fire protection, strong Excel skills, and the ability to read drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

• Proven estimating experience within the passive fire protection industry.
• Strong understanding of fire door standards and current fire safety legislation.
• Confident reading drawings and specifications.
• Strong Excel skills and clear written communication.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Price fire door installation, replacement and remedial works, fire stopping and maintenance contracts.
• Take-offs from drawings, surveys and specifications; question anything that doesn't stack up.
• Build up rates covering labour, materials, plant, access and preliminaries.
• Attend site visits and client meetings; work with bid team on tender submissions.

Passive Fire Estimator (Fire Doors / Fire Stopping) Gillingham, Kent / Hybrid
£60,000 £70,000 basic
Full time, permanent Hybrid: 2 days a week in our Gillingham office, the rest from home, with site visits as required

About us

London Fire Solutions has been delivering passive fire protection since 2011. We install, survey and maintain fire doors and fire stopping systems across London, the South Coast and the Midlands, and we manufacture our own fire doors at our 30,000 sq ft facility in Gillingham, Kent. We have ambitious expansion plans through to 2030, and this role sits right at the heart of them.

Why estimate for us

Because we make our own doors, you're not just pricing someone else's product. You'll work directly with our factory on doorset costs and lead times, which means more control over your price and a better chance of winning. You'll also be pricing for a steady pipeline of planned, repairs and framework work with major housing providers, not chasing one-off jobs.

The role

We're looking for an experienced estimator from the passive fire industry to price and win work across our fire door, fire stopping and maintenance workstreams. You'll work closely with our Commercial Manager, operations and bid teams, and visit site where a job needs eyes on it.

Day to day you will:

• Price fire door installation, replacement and remedial works, fire stopping and compartmentation packages, and planned/reactive maintenance contracts
• Take off from drawings, surveys and specifications, and query anything that doesn't stack up
• Build up rates covering labour, materials, plant, access and preliminaries
• Work with our factory on doorset pricing, and with suppliers and subcontractors for competitive quotations
• Attend site visits, pre-tender meetings and client meetings as needed
• Work with the bid team on tender submissions and framework opportunities
• Hand won work over cleanly to operations with a clear, well-documented pricing basis
• Review completed jobs against estimate and feed the lessons back into future pricing

What we're looking for

• Proven estimating experience within the passive fire protection industry
• Strong in fire doors or fire stopping. Experience in both is a real advantage, but not essential
• Strong understanding of third-party accreditation, fire door standards and current fire safety legislation
• Confident reading drawings and specifications, and producing accurate take-offs
• Good commercial judgement. You know where the risk sits in a price
• Organised, methodical, and able to juggle several enquiries against deadlines
• Strong Excel skills and clear written communication
• Full UK driving licence

Desirable

• Experience of maintenance and planned works programmes, particularly in social housing
• Experience with Calwin or HubSpot
