Job description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Plymouth to assist with the appointment of a Passenger Assistant, on a 23-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Hours per week:10

Rate of Pay: £12.60 - £16.28per hour

Summary:

As a Passenger Assistant (PA), you will accompany children and young adultsmany with additional medical or behavioural needson their journey to and from school or college. You will provide cover for regular PAs who are unavailable, which may include last-minute and short-notice assignments. You will typically support travel in a minibus or taxi.

This is a rewarding and varied role that allows you to gain experience in supporting young people with a range of needs while ensuring their safe transport across Plymouth and the surrounding areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Accompany and supervise students during transport to and from educational settings.
  • Support students with additional needs, ensuring their comfort, safety, and wellbeing during travel.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, parents/carers, and schools.
  • Respond calmly and appropriately in challenging situations, including managing medical or behavioural needs if required.
  • Report any concerns or incidents to relevant supervisors or safeguarding leads.

Essential Requirements:

  • Availability during typical school transport hours (07:0010:00 and 14:0017:00).
  • Willingness to accept last-minute work and variable hours.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
  • Good communication skills and a caring, patient nature.
  • Must live within the Plymouth City Council area.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
