Job Description:

Purpose of the Role:

To provide car parts support, maintain and improve the TPC logistics stock and lifing functions both electronically and physically, to enable effective running of the TPC programme. Ensuring stock control, correct build and kitting practices, servicing routines are maintained, components and assemblies are fit for use. Deliver stock and parts logistics programs to support events both at and away from the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC).

Role Dimensions:

The position involves unsociable hours, substantial weekend work, significant event attendance, and overseas travel. You will work closely with the TPC Project Management team to ensure availability of parts and spares for TPC events. You will coordinate component servicing, kitting, lifing, logistics, and stock control within designated areas, and support on and off car activities during events as needed.

You should have a strong understanding of car component stock management and parts flow in a Formula One and test car environment, including archiving components at end of use. Support outside of TPC, including current F1 activities and Heritage, may also be required.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Ensure correct transaction, service requirements, and routing of components to guarantee they are shipped and fit for purpose for each event.
  • Manage TPC stock control and parts supply to events or build.
  • Ensure post-event service returns and compliance with the Lifing Program.
  • Manage stock issues and liaise with the TPC Project Management team on shortages.
  • Promote adherence to processes and procedures, aligning with current F1 activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
  • Support build functions by kitting components.
  • Handle packing and unpacking of shipments under strict deadlines.
  • Archive parts at end of use according to processes.

Job requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines with conflicting priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital systems for process improvements.
  • Good knowledge of race car build processes and procedures.
  • Strong cross-function planning skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of Formula One race car components and assemblies.
  • Experience in a motorsport team environment managing complex parts on demanding timescales.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and BOM data.
