About Volter
Volter is a top-tier climate VC-backed B2B energy tech platform building the products that make clean, renewable power simple for businesses everywhere. The energy transition is a huge and vital opportunity, but it’s currently too difficult for commercial & industrial companies to achieve. Historically, the energy industry has been too opaque, complex and lacking in trust. We’re fixing that. We aim to be the "Octopus Energy for industry": a modern tech platform providing new renewable energy products with radical transparency, accelerating deployment of renewables and helping customers cut costs and carbon without complexity.
We’re excited to use technology to help our customers deploy & utilise more renewable energy and fast-forward the energy transition - and we need your help!
Role: Partnership Manager
Brokers and channel partners (TPIs) are one of Volter’s most important routes to market. We’re hiring a Partnerships Manager to own these relationships and turn them into a high-performing, predictable growth channel.
You’ll be the face of Volter to our broker partners: onboarding new TPIs, getting them to their first live tender fast, and building the kind of trusted relationships that mean Volter is the first provider they think of. You’ll be accountable for growing a quality tender pipeline, increasing our win rates, hitting margin targets, and owning our renewal book.
This is a cross-functional role: you’ll work hand-in-hand with our Commercial & Pricing team and Ops to make sure every customer a partner brings us gets a great experience - from first quote through onboarding, billing and renewal.
You are a self-starter who excels both independently and in a team. You dislike corporate structure and bureaucracy, and believe in a "best idea wins" culture. This is why you prefer a growth-oriented, flat, startup environment.
Day-to-day responsibilities
Own our broker & channel partner relationships
- Build and manage a portfolio of TPI relationships: be their day-to-day point of contact and trusted advisor
- Onboard new brokers with clear expectations, materials and next steps, and drive them to their first live tender quickly
- Run a regular engagement cadence (calls, visits, reviews) to keep Volter front-of-mind and share of wallet growing
- Train partners on Volter's products, pricing approach and processes so they can sell us confidently
Open and close new partnership accounts
- Identify, prospect and win new broker and channel partner accounts that can become meaningful sources of high-quality tenders
- Own the full partnership sales cycle: qualify fit, build the relationship, handle commercial conversations and get partners activated
- Turn new partnerships into live accounts by securing first opportunities, agreeing ways of working and creating momentum quickly
Grow a quality pipeline & hit commercial targets
- Grow the volume and quality of partner-sourced tenders, shaping which opportunities we see and how well-qualified they arrive
- Own channel performance: tender volumes, win rates, margins and conversion - spot where deals stall (credit, pricing, terms) and rally the right people to unblock them
- Run tight win/loss feedback loops with the Commercial & Pricing team so our pricing and positioning keep sharpening
- Bring back market and competitor intelligence from the field
Own renewals
- Be responsible for hitting our renewal targets: track the renewal book, engage partners and customers early, and protect margin at renewal
Work across commercial & ops for a great customer experience
- Partner with Commercial & Pricing Associates on live deals, SLAs and responsiveness
- Work with Ops to make sure onboarding, metering and billing go smoothly for partner-introduced customers
- Be the voice of the partner internally: close the loop on issues fast and feed improvements into our processes and product
- Explore future products and services we can offer our partners, bringing partner insight back into Volter's roadmap and commercial strategy
- Maintain best-in-class CRM hygiene and report on channel health
What experience you bring
- 4-5+ years in a B2B commercial, partnerships, account management or channel sales role
- A track record of building strong relationships quickly and maintaining them over time - people trust you and enjoy working with you
- Experience owning commercial targets (pipeline, win rate, margin or renewals) and a habit of hitting them
- Strong commercial acumen: you can hold your own on pricing, contract terms and credit in partner conversations
- Highly organised: you can run many relationships and live deals in parallel without dropping balls
- Comfortable operating cross-functionally and getting things done through others
Desirable
- Energy industry experience and an existing TPI/broker network - a big plus
- Understanding of UK B2B energy contracts (fixed, flex, HH) and the tender process
- Experience in a fast-growing startup or building a channel from scratch
Who you are
- A natural relationship builder - you genuinely enjoy people, and partners want to work with you
- Curious, pragmatic and outcome-driven
- You think like an owner: you care about the whole customer journey, not just the signed deal
- You are energised by early-stage businesses, are adaptable and thrive within startup environments
- You have a strong bias toward action and having an impact quickly. You want to get sh*t done
- You are a self-starter and autonomous in your way of working, but ultimately believe a team can get further together than any individual
- You communicate clearly and keep things as simple as possible
- You have buckets of grit
