Job summary

Mishcon de Reya LLP is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to lead the partnership tax function, manage the internal tax team and oversee the LLP’s tax compliance and reporting obligations. The role involves advising partners on UK taxation matters, coordinating with external advisers, and ensuring robust tax governance across the firm.

You will work closely with the Head of Partnership Tax and Accounting to manage tax risk, forecasting, and compliance, while supporting strategic projects and process

Qualifications

• Accounting and/or tax qualification or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience in partner taxation and related accounting.
• Experience in a partnership environment preferred but not essential.
• Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and stakeholders.
• Discretion, confidentiality and diplomacy in handling sensitive information.
• Comfort with AI and digital tools to improve tax processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee annual partnership tax returns, UK filings, and overseas filings.
• Identify and monitor tax risks across the LLP and subsidiaries.
• Ensure compliance with tax legislation and reporting obligations.
• Review profit computations and tax adjustments for consistency.
• Manage partner tax reserve policy and processes with Head of Partnership Tax.
• Support payroll in calculating tax reserves from drawings.
• Assist with tax aspects of partner admissions, retirements and changes in profit-sharing.
• Advise partners on membership tax obligations and implications.
• Reconcile tax reserve accounts and supervise reserve movements.
• Provide guidance to partners on UK taxation matters.
• Oversee Overseas Working requests and PE implications.
• Manage relationships with external tax advisers daily.
• Produce cashflow forecasts for partner tax liabilities and reserves.
• Monitor legislative developments affecting LLPs and members.
• Support partnership restructuring and business change projects.
• Provide technical guidance and maintain tax controls and documentation.
• Support tax governance framework development and operation.
• Respond to HMRC enquiries and external correspondence.
• Assist audits requiring tax information and supervise junior staff.
• Contribute to strategic projects including remuneration reviews.
