Job summary

Berrys in Kettering seeks a Planning and Development Lead at partner level to build and scale a full-service development offering. You will own the planning and development service line, set direction, and grow the pipeline from landowners, developers and investors.

Working with architecture, surveying, valuation and land promotion teams, you will deliver a joined-up service, drive business development, recruit and mentor a team, and contribute to the leadership's strategic direction.

Qualifications

• MRICS / MRTPI qualified with significant post-qualification experience.
• Broad planning knowledge across multiple sectors and development processes.
• Strong commercial judgement and ability to convert opportunities.
• Confident and credible at a senior level, engaging with clients, agents and authorities.
• Appetite for business development beyond duty, energy for growth.
• Experience in or openness to a multi-disciplinary practice.
• Long-term ownership and progression potential, including partnership.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Take autonomous ownership of the planning and development service line in Kettering and drive its growth.
• Build and manage a strong pipeline from landowners, developers, promoters and investors.
• Deliver technical planning consultancy across residential, commercial, mixed-use, and strategic land sectors.
• Lead pre-application engagement, planning applications, appeals and post-planning work.
• Coordinate with architecture, surveying, valuation and land promotion teams to provide a joined-up service.
• Identify and convert new business opportunities and cross-referrals from existing clients.
• Grow the team over time and recruit talent to scale the offering.
• Contribute to commercial direction and strategic planning of the wider business.
