Job summary

Ridge and Partners LLP is seeking a Partner for Cost Management (Quantity Surveying) to establish and grow the Newcastle office service. You will sit on the senior leadership team, shape strategy, and drive cross-selling of Ridge's services while building a high-performing Cost Management team.

You will leverage your established regional network to win work, develop client relationships, and deliver excellence across multiple sectors from health to manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Established network in the Newcastle/Northeast market.
• Significant experience in Cost Management/Quantity Surveying within a consultancy.
• Proven ability to win work and grow client relationships.
• Chartered status (MRICS) or equivalent, or ability to operate at Partner level.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with clients and teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop Cost Management/Quantity Surveying service within the Newcastle office.
• Shape office strategy, culture and growth as a senior leader.
• Be part of the national Cost Management discipline working groups.
• Create and execute a business plan and growth strategy for the service.
• Drive business development and cross-sell services to existing clients.

Job description

This is a rare and exciting entrepreneurial opportunity to establish and grow this key service within our Newcastle office.

As Partner for Cost Management (Quantity Surveying), you will have the autonomy to build the service from the ground up - a blank canvas for an ambitious and well-connected individual who wants to create something lasting, without unnecessary constraints. You will play a prominent role within a growing office of around 16 people, sitting as a visible and influential member of the senior leadership team.

Based in Newcastle city centre, with excellent public transport links, the office is already well established across a variety of sectors including health and public sectors, regeneration and manufacturing. We are deliberately open-minded about the additional sector expertise, client relationships and regional insight you could bring, particularly through strong networks across the Tyneside area and wider Northeast.

You will work collaboratively as part of a work-winning leadership team, identifying opportunities to cross-sell Ridge's wider services into existing clients, while building your own Cost Management capability and team.

Key responsibilities

• Leading and developing Cost Management / Quantity Surveying service within the Newcastle office
• Playing an active role in the senior leadership team, shaping office strategy, culture and growth
• Being part of the wider national Cost Management discipline working groups
• Creating and delivering a clear business plan and growth strategy for this key service
• Driving business development, leveraging your network and reputation across the region
• Building, nurturing and maintaining long-term, trusted client relationships
• Working collaboratively with Partners and teams across the business to cross-sell services
• Acting as a client-facing Partner, leading meetings, managing commercial risk and owning delivery
• Setting and maintaining the highest standards of professional and technical excellence
• Recruiting, developing and mentoring future talent, building a high-performing team around you
• Providing hands-on technical input where appropriate on strategic or complex commissions

As a Partner, you guide, inspire and retain our people while shaping the direction of the business. You bring an entrepreneurial mindset, spotting opportunities to add value beyond the immediate scope of projects and influencing both client and internal strategy.

You are commercially astute, confident balancing quality, cost and risk across multiple commissions, and comfortable being accountable for financial performance. You enjoy autonomy, take ownership and have the credibility to build something of your own - supported, but not constrained, by the wider business.

The skills and experience you'll bring

• A strong professional reputation and established network in the Newcastle / Northeast market
• Significant experience in Cost Management / Quantity Surveying within a consultancy environment
• Proven ability to win work, grow client relationships and develop a sustainable pipeline
• Chartered status (MRICS) or equivalent, or demonstrable capability to operate at Partner level
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with clients, stakeholders and teams
• Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills and sound judgement
• A collaborative mindset, enjoying working across disciplines to deliver best outcomes
• A desire to build, lead and inspire a team, leaving a lasting legacy in the region
