Do you have previous experience in the food service industry and are looking for a change? If so, join Chadwick Lodge as a Vocational Support Worker and help improve the lives of people with mental health conditions.

As the Vocational Support Worker, you will support the daily operations of the silver lining café/shop, run by service users. You will work alongside our service users, providing training, support, and supervision to foster skill development and job satisfaction.

Working 16 hours a week, you will collaborate with the vocational lead, service users, and other staff to co-produce café menus, support food-based events, and contribute to training courses and projects aimed at building awareness and promoting wellbeing.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, receiving regional support and access to various training and online courses for your professional growth.

As a Vocational Support Worker, Your Responsibilities Include:
  • Planning menus and sourcing ingredients in line with the café ethos.
  • Developing and leading the production of food items for sale.
  • Providing excellent customer service at all times.
  • Building relationships with customers, colleagues, and suppliers to ensure smooth café operations and a welcoming environment.
  • Coordinating staffing to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Facilitating cooking courses for staff.
  • Offering individual training and onboarding for new café workers.
  • Working with service users to identify and pursue recovery-focused goals.
  • Maintaining records and updating healthcare records for service users.
Qualifications and Skills Needed:
  • Experience in a similar environment and mental health setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Level 3 food hygiene certificate or willingness to obtain one.
  • Previous experience in the food service industry.
  • Ability to support and supervise a team, work independently, and motivate others.
  • Experience in supervising staff.
  • Interest or knowledge of special dietary requirements and wholesome foods.
  • Ability to mentor and support workers to develop skills and confidence.
Work Location:

Chadwick Drive (off Saxon Street), Eaglestone, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, MK6 5LS

Work at Chadwick Lodge and Eaglestone View, providing specialist treatment for service users detained under the Mental Health Act with a history of offending. The services offer evidence-based therapeutic interventions aimed at reducing re-offending and enhancing quality of life.
