Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting Part-Time 1:1 Outreach Tutors to support children in care and pupils with SEN in Saffron Walden and surrounding areas. You will provide 1:1 sessions for students aged 5–16, primarily English and Maths, at home or in local libraries.

The role is part-time, temporary, with start ASAP and typically 3 hours per day across five days, with potential to take on more cases. Sessions are flexible to suit individual students.

Qualifications

• Hold Right to Work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS certificate and update service or willingness to apply.
• Provide two professional child-related references covering the last two years.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 tutoring sessions focusing on English and Maths.

About the Part-Time 1:1 Tutor position:

Prospero Teaching are looking for 1:1 tutors to support children in care, children with special educational needs and excluded pupils in Saffron Waldon and the surrounding areas.

• We are looking for tutors to work on a 1:1 basis with students aged between 5-16 years old.


• The majority of these students are disengaged in education and will be out of school, with many of them not on a school roll.


• Sessions will take place either at the students home or the local library.


• Students are likely to have difficulty responding to conventional teaching and may have behaviour and/or SEN difficulties. They are also likely to be working below age-related expectations.


• The majority of cases are for either 3 hours per day, 5 days per week but this can be flexible depending on the student in question. There is also the potential to work more hours by taking on more than one case.


• The successful candidate will be expected to deliver sessions with a focus on English and Maths.
