Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Part-Time 1:1 Outreach Tutor to support children in Canvey Island with English and Maths, including pupils with SEN. You’ll work 1:1, mainly at the pupil’s home or local library, delivering engaging sessions to ages 5-16.

Flexible hours, potential to take on more cases, and immediate start for the right candidate. Responsibilities include building confidence, motivating learners, and maintaining safeguarding standards.

Qualifications

• QTS or QTLS preferred but not essential with relevant experience.
• Minimum of degree level.

About the Part-Time 1:1 Tutor position:

Prospero Teaching are looking for 1:1 tutors to support children in care, children with special educational needs and excluded pupils in Canvey Island and the surrounding areas.

• We are looking for tutors to work on a 1:1 basis with students aged between 5-16 years old.
• The majority of these students are disengaged in education and will be out of school, with many of them not on a school roll.
• Sessions will take place either at the student's home or the local library.
• Students are likely to have difficulty responding to conventional teaching and may have behaviour and/or SEN difficulties. They are also likely to be working below age-related expectations.
• The majority of cases are for either 3 hours per day, 5 days per week but this can be flexible depending on the student in question. There is also the potential to work more hours by taking on more than one case.
• The successful candidate will be expected to deliver sessions with a focus on English and Maths.

Experience, Training and Qualifications required for the Part-Time 1:1 Outreach Teaching Assistant position:

• QTS or QTLS is preferred but is not essential providing you have relevant experience.

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years
