Job description

Make a positive change – work for Us!

We are looking for a Part-time Trainer / Assessor (22.5 hours) based in Hull / Hybrid.

Salary: £25,905 - £31,611 pro-rata

We are a registered charity that has been transforming the lives of people affected by drugs and alcohol misuse for over 40 years.

At Generis, we believe that great learning comes from great training experiences – and that active engagement is key. Our specialist training and development department delivers accredited and bespoke training packages to internal and external candidates. Our approach is built on guiding learners through a meaningful journey—where knowledge is developed through independent thinking, dynamic resources, and impactful activities.

The Opportunity

It’s an exciting time to work in the training branch of the drug and alcohol sector, with new career pathways emerging for our learners. Generis is seeking a motivated and passionate Trainer/Assessor to join our small but growing team on a part-time hybrid basis.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about delivering quality training, regardless of direct experience in substance misuse. If you have a background in training, education, or health and social care, and a desire to learn and upskill, we support your development. You will help train and inspire others in this rewarding field.

The role involves delivering a mix of face-to-face and online sessions. Travel to venues across Yorkshire and the East Riding region is required; travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Candidate Requirements
  • A Level 3 Award in Education & Training (formerly PTLLS) or equivalent
  • A desire to develop your skills as an assessor (training and support provided)
  • A passion for supporting learners to develop their ideas, opinions, and professional identities
Preferred Experience

Experience in substance misuse or a relevant health and social care setting is an advantage but not essential, as full training and support will be provided.

Whether you’re an experienced assessor or a practitioner seeking a new challenge, we will support your development through a comprehensive induction to enhance your skills and confidence in delivering Generis packages.

What We Offer
  • The opportunity to be part of a learner-focused, vision-led training department
  • The chance to influence and shape the future of the substance misuse workforce
  • Ongoing professional development and support
  • A supportive team environment within a respected organization

If you’re ready to advance your career and inspire the next generation in the drug and alcohol field, we would love to hear from you.

Note: You must have a valid Right to Work in the UK; we cannot support sponsorship visas.

Salary & Benefits
  • Salary: £25,905 - £31,611 pro-rata, depending on experience
  • 29 days annual leave, increasing to 31 days after 2 years and 34 days after 5 years, plus public holidays
  • Attractive pension scheme (6% employer contribution)
  • Health scheme
  • Training opportunities aligned with your personal development plan
  • Enhanced sick pay
  • Join us during an exciting period of growth

We encourage interested applicants to visit us in person to learn more about the role, meet the team, and experience our environment and courses.
