Job summary

Brockenhurst College in the United Kingdom is seeking a part-time Tai Chi Tutor to join the team at Lymington Community Centre on a claims basis. The tutor will teach a Tai Chi class for beginners; the course will normally run over three terms, 10–13 weeks per term, with class day and time to be agreed with the new tutor.

The position offers a competitive hourly rate of £24.30. Applicants should have a professional qualification, relevant teaching training, and experience with adult learners.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification in Tai Chi or relevant subject area.
• Teacher training qualification or working towards this.
• Experience teaching adults or a desire to teach and obtain the relevant qualification.
• Knowledge of current developments in the relevant curriculum area.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements.
• Knowledge of methods for involving adult students in feedback on their courses.
• Flexibility in teaching approach.
• Effective communication and organisational skills.
• Willingness to use IT and other IT applications in teaching.

Responsibilities

• Teach Tai Chi courses as agreed with the Area Organiser for beginners.
• Mark registers and provide schemes of work.
• Work with Area Organisers on recruitment, monitoring and progression of students.
• Support inclusive learning and adapt to learners' needs.
• Contribute to curriculum design, delivery and development.
• Contribute to teaching/learning resource bank for the subject.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in the subject.
• Attend enrolment/open events as appropriate.
