Our Client is seeking a highly organised and motivated Stores Assistant to deliver an efficient, responsive, and accurate uniform and equipment service. This vital role involves managing stock, processing orders, handling deliveries, and ensuring individuals are correctly equipped for both routine and specialist duties.

You’ll work in a fast-paced environment where your attention to detail, reliability, and strong customer service skills will help ensure uniformed colleagues across the organisation are fully prepared for their roles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Approve internal requests for uniform replacement, ensuring adherence to issued entitlements.
  • Raise and monitor purchase orders with suppliers, considering lead times and chasing delays when necessary.
  • Maintain a computerised stock control system, ensuring all stock movements are accurately recorded.
  • Check and receipt incoming goods, report and resolve any discrepancies with suppliers.
  • Pick, pack, and dispatch uniform items promptly and efficiently.
  • Conduct uniform fittings using garment guides, ensuring appropriate sizing for new starters.
  • Manage stock returns and updates in the control system.
  • Support with regular stock checks and annual stocktakes.
  • Ensure correct and sustainable disposal of end-of-life items, and reuse of specialist equipment where suitable.
  • Assist the Stores Officer as required and maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised working environment.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Good understanding of stock control and audit processes.
  • Experience using computerised inventory systems.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Proven communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Physically fit to handle stock movements in a manual environment.
  • High level of trust and integrity when handling valuable items.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience in a uniformed stores environment.
  • Knowledge of Oracle or other ERP systems.
  • Basic health and safety training.
  • Full UK driving licence.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) including English and Maths.
  • Competent in Windows-based IT applications.
