Job summary

David Lewis Centre in Alderley Edge is seeking a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our established SLT team on a 22.5‑hour, fixed‑term contract lasting 12 months.

The role supports AAC resource creation, carries out communication interventions under supervision, and assists with eating, drinking and swallowing interventions alongside a Dysphagia Practitioner. Pro‑rata salary listed on application.

Qualifications

• Essential: An interest in supporting the communication and EDS needs of people with learning disabilities.
• Desirable: Experience supporting people with communication and/or EDS needs.
• Desirable: Experience in Learning Disability.
• Desirable: Experience using symbol-making software (e.g. InPrint 3).

Responsibilities

• Creating bespoke AAC resources to support communication needs.
• Carrying out communication interventions under supervision.
• Supporting EDS interventions alongside a Dysphagia Practitioner.
• Contributing to whole-site projects to develop Total Communication environment.
• Supporting the delivery of training packages to staff teams.
• Supporting running of therapy groups to build communication skills.
• Facilitating equipment needs and liaising with providers.
