Job summary

County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialist Orthoptist for a part-time maternity cover until 31 March 2027. The appointee will handle a general Orthoptic caseload, conduct new and follow-up assessments, and may join multidisciplinary clinics with paediatric ophthalmology and optometry.

Travel to various Trust sites is possible, requiring strong communication and organisation skills.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration required.
• Ongoing CPD (continuing professional development).
• Diploma/degree in Orthoptics is essential.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage ocular motility disorders; develop treatment plans.
• Carry out new and follow-up Orthoptic assessments.
• Potential to work in multi-disciplinary clinics with paediatric Ophthalmology and Optometrists.
• Educate and train Orthoptic students and other healthcare staff.
