City of Portsmouth College in Portsmouth is seeking a Lecturer in Social Science to contribute to the Social Science and Health department. The role offers the opportunity for full or part-time teaching on Health and/or Social Science courses such as Health and Social Care AAQ, A level Sociology and Psychology, Applied Psychology and Criminology.

You will deliver high-quality teaching, assessment and pastoral support, with focus on student progress, engagement and meeting minimum target grades.

Qualifications

• Post‑graduate Teaching Qualification (or willing to undertake studies towards a Teaching Qualification, full support from the College will be given for this).
• Experience planning, delivering, and assessing business programmes is desirable.
• Evidence of commitment to ongoing professional updating and development, both in the business sector and teaching profession.
• A professional approach with a commitment to excellence and quality.
• An excellent communicator, supportive and co‑operative team member.
• Commitment to setting high standards, expectations, and aspirations for both self and learners.

Responsabilités

• Preparing schemes of work, resources and learning that will engage and stretch your students, including the development of e-learning resources.
• The quality of the student experience in your lessons.
• The volume, timeliness and quality of student assessment and feedback to enable progress and success.
• Support and interventions to ensure good or outstanding student progress.
• Along with your students themselves, meeting minimum target grades.
• The achievement of outcomes and retention which meet or exceed targets set.
• Accurate and timely register completion.
• Taking a pro-active approach towards your own professional development.
• Liaison with parents/carers and other staff to ensure student progress.
