Part-time Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse - VA605

Our beautiful Chalfont St Peter practice in Buckinghamshire has a genuinely sought after opportunity for a senior RVN to join their team, on a part-time basis.

About your new role

Chalfont St Peter has a long-standing bonded relationship within the community who are additionally largely insured, resulting in a lot of in-house diagnostic work ups being conducted, including ultrasound.

The GP first opinion practice has 3 consult rooms, separate dog and cat wards and is in a peaceful, picturesque village location. For those invaluable breaks when the sun makes an appearance you have a huge garden and decked out area to have some “me” time.

This role can offer flexible options between 20-30 hours per week, and includes a 1:3 branch Saturday, and 1:10 hospital Sunday rotation. You will be rota ‘d to 1 bank holiday per year in the nearby Mandeville Hospital.

There are NO on-call requirements.

You will be fully supported by 2.5 vets, incredible nursing and reception support colleagues, and an invaluable regional manager who have all worked in/with the practice for years.

As a senior branch RVN some of your duties will include:

• Responsible for the nursing team, ensuring the provision of a high quality and continually improving standards of nursing care.
• Assist the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations, as and when required.
• Ensure the provision of a high quality and continually improving standard of nursing care, comfort and welfare of all pets in our care.
• Utilise Schedule 3 skills, as directed.
• Ensure all diagnostic, surgical and medical equipment and instruments are serviced as required, maintained well and in full working order.
• Ensure that a weekly audit of Controlled Drugs is carried out in accordance with the prescribed protocol.
• Responsible for staff working on reception, ensuring a high and improving standard of client care by means of excellent communication and service at all times.
• Manage the daily operation of the reception area and ensure the friendly and efficient handling of clients and their pets, in person, by email and over the telephone.
• Support student nurses as a clinical supervisor

The Mandeville Veterinary Hospital in Northolt provides out of hours support for Chalfont. It has state of the art 24 hr facilities including CT, ultrasound, scopes, laparoscopic equipment, and an array of specialists.

Location wise, if you are looking to be within close proximity of London but for day to life not in the middle of the hustle and bustle, Chalfont is perfect! It’s a quiet village with rural charm, yet easily accessible to city life, giving you the best of both worlds.

Being just a 5-minute drive from Gerrards Cross train station, within 50 minutes you are in London Liverpool Street, where you can pick up numerous other lines to get you across the city.

Accommodation is available to rent above the practice if required.

Our Senior RVN salary band is £36,000 to £39,000 (FTE based on a 40-hour week and would be pro rata ‘d down to your part‑time hours) depending on experience and allowing room for growth within the role.
