Job summary

Recruitment Helpline Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant / Accounts Reviewer for a part-time, self-employed role based in Croydon. The position focuses on reviewing junior work and ensuring all assignments meet professional standards.

Responsibilities include reviewing accounts for various entity types, VAT and CIS returns, and corporate/personal tax computations. Candidates should have UK accounting expertise, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience working within a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounts preparation and UK Tax and cloud accounting software and Sage.
• Experience reviewing accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
• Good understanding of UK accounting standards and compliance requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Strong communication
• ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification preferred, although qualified by experience candidates will also be considered.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in an office-based environment.
• Must be self employed
• Input data into software for Self-assessment tax returns

Responsibilities

• Reviewing Accounts: Check limited company accounts, sole trader accounts, partnership accounts, VAT returns & CIS returns.
• Tax Compliance: Review corporate and personal tax computations.
• Quality Control: Spot errors, fix discrepancies, make corrections and ensure work meets UK accounting standards
• Supporting Staff: Offer brief guidance and feedback to junior accountants and bookkeepers.
• Maintain high standards of accuracy and quality across client work.
• Input data into software for Self-assessment tax returns
