Are you a dedicated and experienced SENCO looking for a part-time opportunity to make a significant impact in a supportive and forward-thinking school? We are seeking a passionate and ambitious Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our dynamic team on a part-time basis.

About the Role

As SENCO, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all children, regardless of their ability or additional needs, have access to high-quality education and the support they need to thrive. Working closely with the Headteacher and Governing Body, you will lead the school’s approach to inclusive education, advising and supporting staff to implement effective strategies that enable every child to reach their full potential. This is a part-time position offering a flexible work schedule.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and developing SEND provision across the school.
  • Supporting teachers in delivering Quality First Teaching to meet the diverse needs of all pupils.
  • Identifying and assessing pupils with SEND, ensuring appropriate interventions and support plans are in place.
  • Managing the SEND register and overseeing the implementation and review of EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans).
  • Working collaboratively with external agencies, parents, and carers to provide a holistic support system for pupils.
  • Leading staff training and development in SEND best practices.
  • Ensuring the school remains compliant with SEND legislation and best practices, including the SEND Code of Practice.
What We Offer
  • A supportive, dedicated team committed to raising standards and providing the best education for all pupils.
  • A school with a strong ethos and values, where inclusion and wellbeing are at the heart of our mission.
  • A leadership team and governing body that fully supports SEND provision and professional development.
  • Opportunities for career progression and continued professional learning.
  • A welcoming, community-focused environment with a commitment to both pupil and staff wellbeing.
  • Excellent transport links – the school is situated in Welham Green, within walking distance of Welham Green mainline railway station and close to major routes, including the A1 and M25 interchange.
Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from experienced, qualified SENCOs who are eager to make a difference. The ideal candidate will:

Hold the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or be working towards it.
Have a strong track record in SEND leadership and provision within a school setting.
Be passionate about inclusive education and championing the needs of all learners.
Be an excellent communicator, able to build strong relationships with staff, parents, and external professionals.
Demonstrate resilience, innovation, and strategic thinking in addressing SEND challenges.
Support the school’s values and ethos, promoting a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
