Job description

Part-Time SEN Tutor (Liverpool)

Prospero Teaching is recruiting experienced SEN Tutors to support pupils across Liverpool with 1:1 tuition in both Maths and English from KS1 through to KS4.

These pupils are currently unable to access mainstream education and may have Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Tutors play a vital role in helping them re-engage with learning through a patient, flexible, and supportive approach.

Role Details:
  • Location: Across Liverpool (sessions in community settings or pupil homes, with safeguarding in place)
  • Hours: Approx. 10h - 20h per week (flexible within 9am - 4pm, term-time only)
  • Pay: £25 - £30 per hour, depending on experience
  • Contract: Ongoing, part-time, flexible
  • Subjects: Both Maths and English (tutors must be confident delivering both subjects at an appropriate level)
  • Start date: ASAP
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years experience supporting pupils with SEN/SEMH in the UK
  • Experience teaching/tutoring both Maths and English within the UK curriculum
  • QTS desirable (but strong SEN/tuition experience will be considered)
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Ability to travel across Liverpool for in-person tuition
  • Patient, empathetic, and engaging approach to support vulnerable learners

This role is a fantastic opportunity for teachers who want to move away from the traditional classroom but still make a huge impact. You will create and deliver personalised learning plans in both Maths and English, building confidence and closing gaps in education. Progress will be tracked through regular reports to support pupil development.

If you are passionate about supporting SEN pupils and confident delivering both core subjects, we want to hear from you!
