Job summary

All Saints C.E in Standon is seeking a reliable, proactive maintenance assistant for 3 hours per week during term time. The role covers general site maintenance, minor repairs, decorating and furniture assembly to keep our rural school safe and welcoming.

You will also assist with outdoor duties, security of the site and events setup, with safeguarding being a priority. The position offers a flexible, supportive environment with opportunities to contribute to a small, community-focused school.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, caretaking, facilities or trade-related roles is advantageous but not essential.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload with a flexible approach.
• Excellent health and safety awareness and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine site maintenance and minor repairs to school buildings, fixtures, fittings and equipment.
• Maintain a safe, clean outdoor environment including pathways, leaves, debris, litter and bins.
• Undertake minor decorating tasks and furniture assembly; install shelves and classroom displays.
• Support site security and day-to-day operation, opening and securing premises as required.
• Report health and safety concerns and defects promptly.
• Set up and clear away furniture and equipment for school events.
• Assist with gritting and snow clearance during adverse weather; keep access safe.
• Liaise with contractors and staff to maintain high standards of the environment.
