Job summary

The Manchester Grammar School in Manchester is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to join the library staff for 28 hours per week during term time.

Responsibilities include supervising students, cataloguing and processing stock with Accessit, liaising with staff, promoting reading for pleasure, and deputising for the Senior Librarian when needed. Safeguarding responsibilities apply.

Qualifications

• Experience in school libraries or learning resource centres.
• Knowledge of fiction authors and general knowledge beneficial.
• Good communication and inter-personal skills.

Responsibilities

• Support and supervise students using library facilities during study sessions and reading times.
• Perform issuing/returning, ordering, cataloguing and processing stock using Accessit.
• Liaise with departmental staff and promote reading for pleasure.
• Deputise for the Senior Librarian in their absence.
• Carry out other duties with the Senior Librarian as required.
• Promote safeguarding and welfare of children and young persons.
