Job description

Part-Time Veterinary Nurse Opportunities
Somerset
£11,000 – £20,000 per year, depending on experience
Position 1: 21 hours per week | Position 2: 14 hours per week
My client is currently looking for two dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Nurses to join a small, independent practice based in Somerset. These part-time roles are ideal for experienced nurses seeking a supportive, community-focused environment where high standards and genuine care for animals are the priority.
In both roles, you will be instrumental in supporting the veterinary team and ensuring the highest quality care for patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting during examinations and surgical procedures, administering medications and treatments, monitoring the health and behaviour of animals, and providing both pre- and post-operative care. You will also carry out laboratory work such as blood tests and urinalysis, maintain accurate medical records, and help keep the clinic organised, clean, and fully equipped.
Client interaction is an important part of the job, so you'll be offering advice to pet owners on animal care, nutrition, and general wellbeing. Reception duties such as appointment scheduling and managing communications may also be part of your day-to-day work.
To be considered, you’ll need a recognised veterinary nursing qualification or equivalent experience. A minimum of one year’s experience in a veterinary setting is required, along with confidence in basic lab procedures and strong interpersonal skills. You should be calm under pressure, detail-oriented, and, most importantly, passionate about animal welfare. Leadership experience is beneficial.
This practice, proudly independent since 2014, has built a strong reputation in the local community for its integrity and professionalism. Known for exceptional continuity of care and a warm, welcoming approach that makes clients feel part of the family.
They are looking for team players who are not only committed to high standards but also bring positivity, humour, and energy to the workplace. If you value meaningful client relationships, pride yourself on delivering excellent care, and thrive in a supportive team, you’ll be a great fit.
In return, they offer a competitive salary based on experience and a range of benefits including a company pension, cycle to work scheme, employee discount, and free on-site parking. Day shifts and some weekend availability will be required.
If you're a motivated individual ready to make a real difference in the lives of pets and their owners, we’d love to hear from you.
