Job summary

Claires Court School in Maidenhead is seeking a Gap Rowing Assistant / Trainee Rowing Coach, starting September 2026. This part-time role (22 hours per week, afternoons) supports coaching pupils in the senior girls’ and boys’ rowers and helps prepare equipment.

You will work with the existing rowing team, develop as a coach, attend regattas, and assist with safeguarding, risk assessments, and day-to-day admin.

Qualifications

• Committed rower with competitive experience.
• Keen to contribute to the whole department and develop as a coach.
• Patient, with the ability to inspire confidence in others.
• Skilled in building excellent working relationships with students and colleagues.
• Flexible in your approach to work, with some weekend and evening work required.

Responsibilities

• Coach rowing with the existing team, mainly year 9 and 10 development group.
• Prepare equipment prior to sessions and keep the club clean and secure.
• Attend rowing regattas and assist with event administration.
• Support the equipment manager with boat care and maintenance.
• Conduct risk assessments for activities as appropriate.
• Report accidents and near misses per school policy.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils and comply with GDPR and Privacy Notices.
