Job summary

Anna Freud is seeking a part-time Teaching Assistant - Research Methods to support postgraduate students in practical research-methods with SPSS teaching, assessment support, and course administration.

The role is hybrid with mandatory in-person SPSS workshops at UCL on Tuesday mornings and occasional attendance at the Anna Freud London office. Salary is £26,000 FTE with a contributory pension, and closing date 3 November 2026.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree with substantial statistics training.
• Postgraduate degree or at least one year’s experience using statistics in research.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis and key statistical concepts.
• Practical SPSS skills for data manipulation and statistical testing.
• Clear communication skills and confidence using Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom and Moodle.

Responsibilities

• Deliver weekly face-to-face SPSS tutorials alongside the Module Lead.
• Prepare for sessions by reviewing course materials and practical exercises.
• Help students understand statistical concepts, use SPSS and interpret results.
• Support assessment preparation and mark allocated student papers.
• Attend planning, calibration and moderation meetings as required.
