Job description

VA543 – Part‑Time Registered Veterinary Nurse

As one of the first spa towns in the UK, famous for its miracle salts, Epsom is home to one of our GP first opinion practices that is a short canter away from the racecourse. While you may not get a full spa treatment you will certainly be welcomed with VIP treatment by a settled team, looking for an additional RVN to support them on a part‑time basis.

About your new role!

This part‑time RVN role involves 8.5‑hour shifts on Tuesdays and Thursdays, ideal for a newly qualified RVN with ample support, or for someone with a few years under their belt looking to reduce hours.

You will be working alongside a settled team including a full‑time vet, full‑time RVN, VCA, and two part‑time receptionists, providing front‑of‑house support to our long‑term client base so you can focus on patient care.

Your rota will include a 1:4 Saturday rotation and a 1:10 Saturday rotation at Stone Lion Hospital in Wimbledon. You will be rota ‘d to one bank holiday per year. There are NO on‑call requirements.

Branch RVN duties
  • Ensure a high quality and continually improving standard of nursing care.
  • Assist the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations, as and when required.
  • Maintain comprehensive patient hospitalisation records.
  • Ensure a high standard of comfort and welfare for all pets in our care.
  • Complete and maintain accurate records of hospitalised patients.
  • Maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment.
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned, packed, sterilised and stored correctly when not in use.
  • Maintain adequate stocks of drugs, diets and consumables, and place orders with suppliers as necessary.
  • Assist with the induction of new staff and their subsequent training.
  • Provide reception duties as required, ensuring a friendly and efficient handling of clients and their pets, in person, by email and over the telephone.
  • Support student nurses as a clinical supervisor.
Location

Epsom itself is a beautiful market town in Surrey, well‑connected with easy access to the M25 and direct train lines to central London. Location-wise, Epsom offers the best of both worlds—outside the city but with ample access when needed.

Pay and benefits

Our RVN salary band is £32,000 to £35,000 FTE (full‑time equivalent based on 40 hours per week), depending on prior experience and allowing room for growth within the role.

  • 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays (pro rata for part‑time).
  • CPD budget every year plus up to 2 days paid CPD leave (pro rata).
  • Paid 30‑minute lunch breaks.
  • Opportunity to join our private medical healthcare scheme at a reduced rate, plus medical cashback incentives.
  • Relocation assistance (where applicable).
  • Generous colleague introduction reward.
  • 24‑hour Employee Assistance Programme.
  • RCVS and BVNA fees covered.
  • Medical cashback plan involving refunds on routine medical costs such as dental care, physiotherapy, optician, chiropractic fees, and more.
