Job summary

GSL Education is seeking a Psychology Graduate to work within local schools in North Yorkshire and surrounding areas. The role offers practical experience in education, mental health, counselling, or educational psychology, supporting students with learning, behavioural and emotional needs.

You will work alongside teachers and SEND professionals to create a supportive environment where pupils can thrive academically and personally, with responsibilities including one-to-one and small-group

Qualifications

• A degree in Psychology is required.
• A genuine interest in child development, mental health, and education.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting young people.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Previous experience working with children or young people is advantageous but not essential.
• An understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
• An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained).
• An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
• Assist pupils who may have SEND, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or other additional needs.
• Support students in developing emotional resilience, confidence, and positive coping strategies.
• Help promote engagement, participation, and positive behaviour within the classroom.
• Assist teaching staff in delivering inclusive learning activities.
• Observe and monitor student progress, reporting concerns or achievements where appropriate.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students to support their wellbeing and development.
• Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
