Job Description:

Fanshawe College is seeking interested and experienced law enforcement professionals to teach part-time in the Police Foundations (PFT) program and/or Protection, Security and Investigation (PSI) program in the School of Public Safety.

Reporting to the Associate Dean, School of Public Safety, part-time professors are responsible for teaching courses within the PFT and PSI programs and developing an effective learning environment for students.

Note: These are part-time temporary Faculty positions (up to 6 hours per week) starting September 2, 2025, and ending December 12, 2025.

Note: These positions are located at Fanshawe's main campus at 1001 Fanshawe College Blvd., London, Ontario.

General Qualifications:

  • Combination of excellent leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success
  • Excellent communicator (verbal and written)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to relate effectively to a wide variety of learners
  • Strong technical/computer skills and familiarity with educational technologies are required
  • Teaching experience with hybrid and/or online delivery preferred
  • Related industry work experience, previous college teaching experience and knowledge of curriculum design and student evaluations are assets

Specific Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field of study
  • Master’s degree in a related field of study and/or Bachelor of Education/ Master of Education is an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years’ recent (within the last two years) experience in the field of law enforcement, such as policing, corrections, customs, municipal by-law, MTO Enforcement, and/or security practices
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements
  • Valid license to work as a security guard and/or private investigator in Ontario is an asset
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the challenges of diverse student groups is an asset
