Job Description

Job Title: Premises Cleaner

Responsible To: Engineering Manager/Engineering Supervisor/Chargehand Fitter

Main Purpose of Job: To maintain the cleanliness of the exterior and interior of the Company’s vehicles and property to the standard determined by the Company in an efficient and economical manner, with due regard to current legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Duties include:

1. Cleaning all Company vehicles and property/infrastructure in accordance with Company policy and cleaning specifications.
2. Refueling vehicles and checking engine oil levels, topping up if required.
3. Driving vehicles through the mechanical washing machine and performing necessary pre-cleaning as detailed in the Company’s cleaning specification. Transferring vehicles between depots as requested.
4. Mopping floors on vehicles, vacuuming seats, cleaning interior and exterior windows, and cleaning the driver’s cab, dash panel, and windscreens.
5. Cleaning and painting rims of road wheels, applying tyre black when required.
6. Preparing surfaces for painting, whether old or new, painted or unpainted, including filling small unevenness and rubbing down to provide a suitable surface.
7. Collecting parts from other depots or suppliers, provided the postholder has a valid license.
8. Driving Company vehicles when necessary; a valid car driving license is essential.
9. Performing any additional duties as directed by supervisory staff that are within the job holder’s capabilities.
