Job Title: Premises Cleaner

Responsible To: Engineering Manager/Engineering Supervisor/Chargehand Fitter

Main Purpose of Job: To maintain the cleanliness of the exterior and interior of the Company’s vehicles and property to the standard determined by the Company in an efficient and economical manner with due regard to current legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Responsibilities

1. To clean all Company vehicles and property/infrastructure in accordance with Company policy and cleaning specification.
2. Refuel vehicles and check engine oil level and top-up if required.
3. Driving vehicles through the mechanical washing machine and doing the necessary pre-clean as detailed in the Company’s cleaning specification. In addition, transfer vehicles between depots as requested.
4. To mop floors on vehicles, vacuum seats, clean interior and exterior windows, clean the driver’s cab, dash panel and windscreens.
5. Cleaning and painting of rims of road wheels, apply tyre black if and when required.
6. Preparing surfaces for painting whether they are old or new, painted or unpainted, of the following materials: wood, metal and fibreglass/plastic, including filling small unevennesses and rubbing down to provide suitable surface.
7. To collect parts from other depots or suppliers, providing the postholder has a licence.
8. To drive Company vehicles when necessary, a car driving licence is essential.
9. In addition to the foregoing the post holder will be expected to carry out any additional duties as directed by supervisory staff which they deem is within the job holder's capabilities.
