A healthcare provider in Watford is looking for an experienced Practice Nurse to deliver diverse nursing services including immunisations and chronic disease management. The ideal candidate will be registered with the General Nursing Council and possess cervical cytology accreditation. This role requires strong patient care skills and the ability to collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure high-quality care.
We are looking to recruit an experienced and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our friendly team. The role involves delivering a wide range of nursing services within the primary care setting, including Childhood and Adult Immunisation, Cervical Smears, chronic disease management, preventative care, and health promotion.
We are a supportive and well-organised GP surgery serving alist size of approximately 4,200 patients. Rated Good by the CQC,our practice prides itself on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.Our close-knit team includes GPs, healthcare assistants, Trainee PharmacyTechnician, Diabetic Specialist Pharmacist, Physiotherapist, Senior pharmacists,and administrative support, all working collaboratively in a positive andforward-thinking environment.
Support the practice in achieving quality indicators andtargets of the GMS contract and any relevant National Service Frameworks.
Undertake opportunistic screening when clinically required.
Perform venepuncture and electrocardiography.
Undertake wound care/ management/dressing techniques.
Perform cervical screening and promote breast awareness.
Administer adult and paediatric injections under anindividualised prescription or Patient Group Direction, ensuring safe storage,rotation and disposal of vaccines and drugs.
Provide advice on lifestyle issues, assist and supportpatients in changing their unhealthy behaviours and refer appropriately.
Apply infection control measures when collecting andhandling of laboratory specimens, disposing of waste materials, dealing withblood and body fluids spillages and report and treat sharps injuries.
Undertake first aid and management of emergencies, e.g.,burns, haemorrhage, hypo/hyperglycaemic emergencies/asthma attacks.
Undertake annual training and demonstrates competency inanaphylaxis and resuscitation techniques.
Abide by the legal requirements and statutory rules relatingto practice and record and maintain periodic professional registration with RCN& NMC.
Recognise the signs of child abuse, family violence,vulnerable adults, substance abuse, addictive behaviours, suicidal tendenciesand be aware of local, referral procedures.
Promote your own continuing professional development.
Participate in an annual appraisal.
Completing all mandatory training modules as specified bythe Practice.Promote your own continuing professional development.
Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk
