A local healthcare provider in Bradford seeks a qualified Part Time Phlebotomist or Health Care Assistant. The role requires previous experience and professionalism to support a busy GP surgery. Responsibilities include patient care, phlebotomy, and health monitoring. Ideal candidates will possess compassion and a skill for working with diverse populations, including the vulnerable. This position offers flexible hours between 20-25 weekly.
Qualified Part Time Phlebotomist or Health Care Assistant required to cover Maternity leave for one year commencing early October 2025
20 - 25 hours between 8.30 and 3 pm * can offer a bit of flexibility
This is a patient facing role therefore previous experience , professionalism, presentation and proven track record is essential
You will be joining a busy GP surgery ( The Rockwell and Wrose Practice) in North Bradford and have full support of our experienced practice nurse team.
Providing care is a skill - compassion and empathy essential requirement.
The role is diverse and interesting, but also challenging at times, attending patients from all walks of life , including the disadvantaged / vulnerable, mentally unwell, neurodiverse, Learning disabilities and physically disabled. For this reason some awareness of safeguarding training would be advantageous
To support the practice nursing teamin the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practicemultidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to theentitled patient population. The phlebotomist/ or health care assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in theprovision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patienteducation.
The role will also include stock control, infection control and waste management.
The Rockwell and Wrose Practice is a busy GP surgery with two branches in Bradford 2 & 10
The practice cares for 11250 patient and has a team of 32 staff.
The surgery has a good reputation for patient care and applies robust clinical and administrative governance procedures.
Enhanced DBS is a requirement of this role, plus evidence of certificates of training

The following are the coreresponsibilities of the primary care health care assistant.
There may be, onoccasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks, or embark on extensivetraining in order to undertake new responsibilities, due to the shifting natureof secondary care services into primary care; this will be dependent uponfactors such as GP contractual requirements, workload and staffing levels.
Phlebotomy. Venepuncture as instructed by Doctor or Senior Nurse. Complete necessary path lab requestforms and consign to path lab using ICE software. Input data on practice based computersystem (PCS). Safe waste disposal of sharps etc
Blood pressure checks. Perform blood pressure monitoring asdirected by practice protocol, or under instruction of doctor or seniornurse
Smoking Cessation information and advice as per NHS Bradford andAiredale protocol
24 Hour BP monitoring Perform bloodpressure monitoring as directed by practice protocol, or under instructionof doctor or senior nurse
Arrange Home loan BP administration as per protocol
Urine checks (dips, pregnancy testing, etc) overseen by clinician
NHS Health Checks. Input all data (information) ontopractice computer system using health status prompts template. Record all significant chronic diseases(ie diabetes/coronary heart disease, respiratory disease) and arrangefollow up by doctor or senior nurse in appropriate practice pathway (asnecessary)
Carers. Identify carers (record information onto computer system). Undertake Carer health checks Signpost carers on to the Carer LinkWorker for Bradford Carers Support
Long Term Condition reviews Perform bloodpressure monitoring as directed by practice protocol, or under instructionof doctor or senior nurse
Data Input administration ( using GP computer system to record all activity)
Contribute to practice incentive targets. To play proactive role in gatheringclinical data either planned or opportunistically for QOF ( quality andoutcomes framework) and PCN Investment and improvement framework as wellas LES - local enhanced service markers
Contribute to practice achievement of the CQC standards
Stock Control and Room Management. Order path lab and cytology stock andmedical supplies as required. Orderstock for doctors and nurses room (gloves, cotton wool, urine testingkits, plasters, sharps bins etc) and ensure rooms are ready for use at alltimes. To include monthly EmergencyDrug Bag monitoring/replacement of stock
Data Quality, Confidentiality and GDPR. Possess working knowledgeof practice computer system and simple trouble shooting techniques. Report of problems to IT helpdesk. Be Knowledgeable of InformationGovernance and Data QualityPrinciples (including Data protection act, Freedom of Information andAccess to health Records. Mustcheck email inbox daily. Manage tasks within System one daily and accesspractice intranet staff pages daily
DMARD monitoring desirable reporting andundertake blood testing as per practice guidelines
Prediabetes monitoring
Theatre Assistant & chaperone contraceptive Implant and IUCD insertions
Patient information leaflets distribution. Issue leafletsto provide back up information regarding health promotion and lifestyle asnecessary
Attend practice meetings and undertaketraining as necessitates the position
Incidents & Risk management.Report all incidents or equipment faults to Practice Manager or Seniornurse. At all times adhere tocompany policies to ensure risk kept to minimum
Incidentals. Teaand coffee duties as required
