Job summary

Ceredigion County Council Direct Payment Support Service is seeking a Personal Assistant in the Aberporth area. The role involves supporting a non-verbal child with additional needs, enabling participation in community activities and ensuring safety at all times.

Ideal candidates are caring, reliable and patient, with the ability to use basic signing where helpful, and to adapt to flexible hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, between 10:00am and 2:00pm.

Qualifications

• Caring, reliable and patient approach.
• Willingness to support a child with additional needs.
• Able to communicate with others using simple signing.

Responsibilities

• Provide constant supervision due to vulnerability and lack of danger awareness.
• Collect from the family home and transport to and from activities in the local community.
• Accompany and assist with activities such as cinema visits, shopping trips, walks and outdoor activities, and trains interest.
• Encourage participation in activities and promote enjoyment.
• Support communication with others, including unfamiliar people, using simple signing and supportive approaches.
• Build a positive, trusting relationship.
