JGA Recruitment seeks an experienced Part-Time People Director to lead HR across a multi-site education organisation. The role focuses on advising on complex employee relations matters and building a robust in-house People function, with a strong policy framework.

The ideal candidate will bring expertise in employment law, multi-site HR, and strategic hands-on leadership, while supporting wellbeing, EDI, and professional development within a hybrid working pattern.

Qualifications

• Experienced senior HR professional with strong employee relations and employment law expertise.
• Proven ability to independently manage complex casework from start to finish.
• Ability to work strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in education or public sector is desirable, other sectors considered.
• Experience developing and implementing HR policies across multiple sites.

• Manage complex disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence cases.
• Develop and maintain legally compliant HR policies across multiple sites.
• Lead workforce planning and support senior recruitment.
• Oversee safer recruitment compliance and HR processes.
• Support appraisal, pay and performance processes.
• Manage occupational health and HR systems relationships.
• Provide workforce reporting and people data to senior leadership.
• Support organisational growth, including TUPE and employment due diligence.
• Develop initiatives around wellbeing, EDI and professional development.

Part-Time People Director

Salary: £47,665-£53,051 FTE

Hours: 22.5 hours per week

Contract: Permanent, Part-Time

Location: Cheshire / Wirral / Liverpool

Working Pattern: Hybrid - home/central office with regular planned school visits

The Role

An opportunity for an experienced senior HR professional to become the lead adviser on all people matters across a multi-site education organisation. A key focus will be providing expert advice on complex employee relations matters while developing a consistent HR policy framework and helping transition the organisation towards a stronger in-house People function.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the senior HR adviser to Headteachers and senior leaders.
• Manage complex disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence cases.
• Develop and maintain legally compliant HR policies across multiple sites.
• Lead workforce planning and support senior recruitment.
• Oversee safer recruitment compliance and HR processes.

Ideal Candidate

• Experienced senior HR professional with strong employee relations and employment law expertise.
• Proven experience independently managing complex casework from start to finish.
• Comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on.
• Experience within education or the public sector is highly desirable, although other sectors will be considered.
• Experience developing and implementing HR policies.
• Multi-site HR experience would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of STPCD, Green Book/Burgundy Book and education pension arrangements would be beneficial.
• CIPD Level 7 or equivalent senior-level experience preferred.
