Job summary

Axon Moore is recruiting a part-time Payroll Specialist on a contract basis in Blackburn. The role supports transitioning payroll operations from in-house to outsourced provider, with 2-3 days per week and up to £43,000 pro rata.

You will cover payroll processes during transition and work with People, Finance, IT and the external provider to ensure a smooth handover. The ideal candidate has strong payroll operations knowledge, project coordination experience, and proficiency with Excel and

• Strong payroll operational knowledge, including payroll controls, compliance, and processes.
• Strong project coordination and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working with third-party payroll providers.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the end-to-end transition of payroll services from the in-house team to the outsourced payroll provider
• Provide coverage to the in-house payroll process during the transition period
• Coordinate transition activities, timelines, milestones, and testing plans
• Work closely with People Team, Finance, IT, and the external provider to ensure successful implementation
• Identify, track, and mitigate risks associated with the transition
• Ensure payroll processing continues accurately and on schedule pre, during and post-transition
• Ad hoc duties, working closely with the Payroll Manager
